Giveaway: Museum Marathon Goodie Bags

museum marathon goodie bag

It’s been over two months now since we successfully hosted the Museum Marathon here in Berlin. With your help, we managed to raise 685 Euro (over 500 GBP) for the project ‘1001 Ramps’, which provides barrier free access to public buildings via mobile wheelchair ramps.

We still have a few goodie bags left over from the event, which were kindly sponsored by our many partners! The contents include tote bags, note books, various pens and pencils, postcards, key chains, stickers, sweets, a magazine (in German), an audio drama (in German) and a card game (in German or English) among other things.

Now you have the chance to win one of these goodie bags! All you need to do is leave a comment below telling us which is your favourite museum in Berlin! Or, if you have never been to Berlin, which museum you would most like to visit here (you can find some inspiration in our Museum Marathon Storify). Please make sure to include an email address*, so we can contact you in case you are one of the lucky winners. The giveaway will run until the end of next week, Friday 1st August, 10am German time (GMT +2), after which we will pick 5 names at random from all entries, to each receive a goodie bag.

If you would like to support the project 1001 Ramps, the donations page at is still open for this purpose. Please note that making a donation is not required to take part in the giveaway! We just couldn’t pass up the chance to give this great cause another shout out.

*Please note that your email address will only be visible to us, and will only be used for the purpose of contacting you in case you are one of the winners.

Das Museum bzw. die Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg mit der Ausstellung “Surreale Welten” gehört definitiv zu meinen Favoriten in Berlin.

The Pergamon museum SO beautiful, shame it will close in September for 5 years! :(

Only the hall with the Pergamon Altar will close to the public. The South Wing of the Pergamonmuseum, featuring the Market Gate of Miletus, the Ishtar Gate and Processional Way from Babylon, and the Museum of Islamic Art, remains unaffected and will be open during the 5 year renovation.!

Our favourite museum so far has been the Currywurst museum…great fun for kids! The one we would most like to visit soon is the DDR museum. :)

Oh that’s too tough to name just one! I’m going with these faves: Jewish Museum for historical value, Naturkunde Museum for amazing displays, and when it’s open, Pergamon for rich artifacts. :)

Well, as a historian, I’m going to have to go with the Deutsches Historisches Museum! I am also a huge fan of the temporary exhibits they have… I saw one about ‘Germans and the forest’ and the one of Everyday life during WWII (the one that was somewhat controversial with children’s notebooks and toys describing the Nazi party).

Somewhat related to my research on the PRC, I really like visiting the former Stasi headquarters turned museum, so that would be a second choice. It was creepy and relatively deserted, but it also felt still under construction. I’ll return again in the future!

For out of town visitors I always suggest the popular Technik museum.

Difficult, I will also have to go with Neue Nationalgalerie (Mies Groupie, also love the small Mies Haus in Odersee) but I also love the Pergamon, DHM, JM (architecture again..), Neues Museum (hmm… is there a trend here?) . For kids: if Domäne Dahlem can be considered a museum, I think the DD, if not, the Naturkunde and the Spectrum Science Centre at the Technical Museum.

Domäne Dahlem definitely counts as a museum ;)

The Pergamonmuseum is great, but I love the Museum of Communication. It’s much more interactive and creative and there’s always something new to discover..

    The pergamon or science centre

My favourite Museum in Berlin is Bode Museum. Recently and beautifully renovated, it’s an unknown jewel of the museum island! This piece struck me last time I came to Berlin

The museum Marathon is a great idea, which we should replicate in France ;)
    Fingers crossed for the giveaway,
    Have a lovely summer!
