The Museum Oskars 2016: Winners Part 1

Thanks to everyone who nominated their favourite museums in our third ‘Museum Oskars’. Usually this it the point where you say “the votes have been counted and verified”, but in our eyes, everyone is a winner! If someone loved a museum enough to nominate it, then that’s good enough for us. There’s plenty of competition out there already. Since there were twelve categories, we’ll introduce three categories each day, with a final roundup on Friday. Once again, we have crafted some very nice badges for each category, so if you are one of the winning museums, please feel free to use these on your blogs, social media profile, websites etc if you so wish. So, without much further ado, we want to introduce you to all the winners.

Germany

  • Deutsches Museum, München – special exhibition about the future
  • Museum of Locks & Fittings, Velbert, Germany – models and replicas of many of the exhibits on display let visitors interact with what they were seeing. My 5 year old son still talks about it almost a year later!

USA

  • Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden,Washington, D.C. – ARTLAB’s Tech Tours
  • Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City – My VIP tour of the MET with Museum Hack. While not part of the museum, Museum Hack’s tour was so fresh, engaging, and full of well-researched facts and stories that I learned more in those 2 hours on tour than an entire day of wandering the Met by myself!
  • National Cryptologic Museum, Annapolis Junction, MD – the Enigma machines/ the museum is an entire interactive experience
