Red and Orange and…

After a seemingly endless winter here in the northern hemisphere*, we thought we could all do with a bit of colour, so we want to celebrate the beginning of Spring in March by creating a “Museum Rainbow” with you. Red is for…Orange is for…you get the idea!

From Monday 14th March to 20th March – the official start of Spring –  you’ll be invited to share your museum pictures relating to the colours of the rainbow, e.g. objects, locations, architecture etc. We’ll collect all the pictures on our Pinterest boards – one for each colour – so at the end of the week we will hopefully have created a beautiful Museum Rainbow. In addition to the individual colours, we’ll also have an additional board to collect pictures of rainbows themselves, e.g. museum objects featuring rainbows or painted in rainbow colours, or actual rainbows at museums such as the one in the fountain of Museum Island in Berlin, as seen in our cover photo.

Taking part is really simple:

1. Share your pictures on Twitter or Instagram, prominently featuring one of the colours of the rainbow, and tag them with #MuseumRainbow

2. We’ll pin them to our relevant Pinterest boards

You can share any colour at any time, though we will highlighting one each day:

Monday – Red
Tuesday – Orange
Wednesday – Yellow
Thursday – Green
Friday – Blue
Saturday – Indigo/ Violet
Sunday – Rainbows

A couple of important points

When sharing your MuseumRainbow photos, please:

  • Only share photos that you have either taken yourself or that you own the rights to.
  • Don’t share photos of people without their consent.
  • Respect the photography policies of any museums you are sharing images from.

Please note that by sharing and tagging your images with #MuseumRainbow, you give your consent for them to be pinned to our Pinterest boards, as well as being used here on our website & blog, and our Facebook page, in the context of reporting about the MuseumRainbow project. If there is any doubt about ownership or copyright of photos, we will contact you before using them. Thank you!

So join in and help us create a MuseumRainbow to celebrate Spring – and did we mention it’s also our 5th birthday?!! We look forward to seeing your photos!

*Since we have fans and followers all over the world, you are of course welcome to participate whichever season you are currently celebrating – rainbows are beautiful all year round!
